photopea: for my very limitied photoshop-adjacent needs, free, works fully in-browser. what i used to make my header image !
makemkv: to start off the list of cool free/open-source software. what i used to convert a bunch of old family videos to digital, but also very useful for converting...other media to mkvs.
handbrake: additional free/open-source software for converting video files! for home video stuff, i used this one to convert from mkv files to mp4 so they'd be viewable on my mom's iPad.
libre office: almost guaranteed that everyone here knows about libre office already, but i'm putting it here bc it feels weird to list my fav free/open-source things without it.
ms-demeanor archive: home to tumblr user ms-demeanor's pamphlets and pdfs and such. i'm a particular fan of the fuck google pamphlet. her tumblr page is also very good and has lots of useful info about computer stuff for beginners (a.k.a. me trying to add RAM to my old laptop)

inkarnate: very cool map maker! i've used it mainly for worldbuilding for things i'm writing, but i also know people who've used it for DND.
